Lee County, MS $16.75/hour PRN | 12-Hour Shifts Make an Impact Where It Matters Most Join a mission-driven team supporting youth in state custody through partnership with the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS).
This role is centered around relationship-building, consistency, and positive influence. You will support youth who have experienced challenges and transitions by providing structure, guidance, and encouragement as they develop confidence, stability, and independent living skills.
We are seeking individuals who lead with patience, empathy, and accountability, and those who understand that behavior is often communication and that consistency builds trust. CPI Certification (Crisis Prevention Intervention – Blue Card) (or willingness to obtain prior to start)

PRN Needs/Availability
12-hour shifts
Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Day and night flexibility needed
This role requires flexibility to ensure around the clock coverage and supervision for the assigned youth. What This Role Really Is This is not just supervision—this is structured support, mentorship, and presence.
You will:
Build trusting, appropriate relationships with youth
Provide daily structure and consistency
Model healthy communication and behavior
Support development of independent living skills
Work alongside MDCPS to progress positive outcomes for each youth
Key ResponsibilitiesTrauma-Informed Support & Relationship Building
Approach all interactions with a trauma-informed mindset
Recognize triggers and respond with calm, supportive de-escalation
Provide consistent guidance during moments of stress
Reinforce positive behaviors and routines
Safety & Supervision
Maintain continuous awareness and supervision
Ensure a safe and structured environment
Respond appropriately to safety risks, including elopement
Skill Building & Daily Living Support
Encourage personal responsibility and independence
Support routines such as hygiene, meals, school, and activities
Reinforce age-appropriate life skills for long-term success
Documentation & Communication
Complete accurate and timely documentation
Communicate effectively with supervisors and care teams
Maintain strict confidentiality (HIPAA compliant)
Transportation (As Needed)
Safely transport youth to appointments or approved activities
Maintain supervision and professionalism at all times
Attendance & Reliability Expectations Consistency is critical to youth stability:
No gaps in coverage are permitted
Must arrive on time and prepared for handoff
Last-minute call-ins are not acceptable

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
Experience in:
Youth services
Behavioral health
CNA/sitter roles
Corrections or related field (preferred)
Must pass:
Background checks (including NCIC)
Drug screening
Must have reliable transportation
Work Environment
Residential, hospital, and community-based settings
Emotionally dynamic environments requiring patience and professionalism
