Respiratory Therapist – Temp to Perm Opportunity with DME Experience
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our team on a temporary basis with the potential for permanent employment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a reputable healthcare organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot medically prescribed respiratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and compliance with safety standards.
Provide personalized patient care focused on meeting individual respiratory needs and goals, delivering high-quality treatment in accordance with clinical protocols.
Educate patients and caregivers on the proper use and maintenance of ventilators and other DME respiratory devices to promote safety and independence.
Conduct follow-up assessments on respiratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and patient outcomes.
Evaluate the effects of respiratory therapy plans by monitoring patient progress, documenting observations, and recommending adjustments as needed.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate discharge planning and integrate respiratory care into overall treatment plans.
Accurately document all patient interactions and services provided in electronic health records, maintaining thorough and compliant records.
Maintain a safe and clean clinical environment by adhering to infection control policies, safety procedures, and OSHA regulations.
Perform preventive maintenance on respiratory equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and coordinate repairs to ensure continuous, reliable operation.
Stay current with advancements in respiratory therapy through ongoing education, participation in workshops, and professional networking.
Provide training and mentorship to respiratory therapy staff, enhancing team skills and knowledge.
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and certification standards, proactively monitoring changes in legislation and updating practices accordingly.
Contribute to a collaborative team environment by assisting colleagues and participating in department initiatives.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a 2-year college degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field.
Valid driver’s license issued in the applicant’s state of residence.
Proven DME experience, particularly with ventilators and respiratory equipment.
Strong bedside manner and excellent physiological knowledge.
Proficiency in infection control, patient education, and healthcare safety protocols.
Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Sound judgment, procedural proficiency, and strong interpersonal skills.
