Job Title: Surgical Technologist (CVOR) - Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center - Surgical Technologist
Hourly Pay Rate: $40.20

Job Description:
As a Certified Surgical Technologist specializing in CVOR at Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center, you will assist in providing safe, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive patient care during moderate to high acuity surgical cases. Under the supervision of registered nurses and surgical teams, you will prepare the operating room, assist with sterile techniques, and anticipate the needs of surgeons and staff to promote efficient surgical procedures. Your role involves instrument management, assisting with anesthesia setups, maintaining sterile environments, and supporting performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and care quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare operating room and surgical instruments following preference cards
  • Assist with draping, gowning, gloveing, and instrument passing during procedures
  • Maintain sterile field and ensure infection prevention standards are upheld
  • Assist with counting supplies and specimens, participating in pause/time-out protocols
  • Ensure room turnover and equipment sterilization are performed efficiently
  • Communicate effectively with the surgical team to troubleshoot and anticipate needs
  • Support patient safety and comfort, including transport and post-operative care preparations
  • Participate in training, mentoring, and continuing education to stay current with surgical practices
  • Comply with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certified Surgical Technologist certification required (or equivalent)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
  • Experience in a surgical setting, especially CVOR, preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to think critically, adapt quickly, and work under pressure
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel)

Shift: Days, 3x12-hour shifts including some late shifts; weekends as per unit requirements
