Description: This job assists in procedures competently and professionally ensures appropriate handling and maintenance of equipment and supplies and ensures availability of equipment and supplies for surgical procedures. Scrubs for surgical procedures and performs other duties as assigned by the registered nurse RN.
Education Required - High school diploma or equivalent and graduate from an accepted course in surgical technology certification.
Experience Required - 2 year of experience in specialty
Certifications Required - Certification in Surgical Technology.Basic Life Support BLS through American Heart Association.
KSAsGood organizational skills.Good time management skills and ability to be self directed.Ability to demonstrate good judgement.
Job DutiesPerforms direct patient care duties including assisting physicians during procedures.Assists in the day-to-day operations of the department.Maintains required clinical knowledge technical skills equipment training and credentials.Adapts to change in a positive constructive manner.Ensures cleanliness and/disinfection of endoscopes while maintaining quality control measures.Performs other related duties as required.The above statements describe the general nature and level of work only. Physical and Environmental DemandsThe physical essential functions of this job include but are not limited to the following: Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force. The incumbent works in a patient care area works in an area where patients enter works directly with patients and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt transport storage preparation dispensing administration cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
