Surgery Oncology Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgery Oncology Nurse Practitioner specializing in Hepatobiliary/Pancreatic (HPB) surgery to provide expert inpatient and outpatient care at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of the top-ranked cancer programs in the Twin Cities, supporting patients through their cancer journeys with compassionate and comprehensive care. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, coordinate pre- and post-operative care, and assist in the operating room, ensuring our patients receive the highest quality treatment.

Required Skills:
  • Valid Minnesota License (or eligible for licensure)
  • Proven experience in surgical oncology, specifically Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic cases
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostics skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and patient education skills
  • Proficiency in wound care, drain management, and clinical procedures

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience with surgical procedure assistance in the OR
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Oncology or Surgery
  • Bilingual skills for diverse patient populations

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in surgical or oncology nursing, preferably in a hospital setting

Other Requirements:
  • Availability to start ASAP, with MN licensure in place for quick onboarding
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Willingness to handle some inpatient duties and assist during surgical procedures
  • Commitment to patient safety and quality care standards
