What You’ll Do:
Manage complex inpatient cardiac surgery patients, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, and aortic surgeries
Perform daily assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning
Manage arrhythmias and proficiency with pacemakers
Handle volume management, electrolyte correction, and infection surveillance
Monitor and care for surgical drains, chest tubes, and wounds
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including cardiac surgeons and hospitalists
Recognize clinical deterioration and escalate care promptly
Facilitate patient discharge planning and coordinate care transitions
What You Need:
Valid Missouri state license
Board Certified Nurse Practitioner (required)
BLS and ACLS certifications
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; trauma Level I experience preferred
Proficiency in managing high-acuity cardiac patients, including advanced procedures and interventions
Strong communication skills and professionalism
About the Assignment:
This role supports the cardiac surgery stepdown unit, providing comprehensive inpatient care for adult patients undergoing complex cardiac procedures. The APP functions as a key member of the surgical team, practicing with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating closely with cardiac surgeons and multidisciplinary staff. The position offers ongoing coverage with flexible scheduling and a supportive team environment.
