As a Respiratory Therapist with VHS, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive treatment to diverse patient populations, including high-risk deliveries and critical neonatal and pediatric patients. Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant clinical experience in respiratory therapy
  • Proficiency in attending high-risk deliveries and supporting NICU/PICU patients
  • Expertise in airway management, ventilator operation, ABG analysis, and non-invasive ventilation
  • Skilled in intubation of neonates when necessary
  • Ability to manage complex cases including ARDS, COPD, CHF, high-risk deliveries, and post-transplant patients
  • Strong knowledge of respiratory equipment such as Servo U, Trilogy, Vapotherm, and NICU oscillators
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications; ACLS and PALS preferred
  • NBRC national accreditation required; RRT highly preferred but CRT accepted
  • Valid LA state licensure and driver's license
  • Ability to float between four different campuses within a 20-25 minute driving radius

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with ECMO support
  • Advanced training or certifications in neonatal or pediatric airway management
  • Familiarity with Meditech Expanse charting system
  • Previous experience with transport equipment and procedures
  • Flexible availability for varying shifts and call responsibilities

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Education: Associate’s degree or higher in respiratory therapy or related field
  • Experience: 2+ years in similar clinical settings, supporting high-risk deliveries and NICU/PICU units

Other Requirements:
  • Willingness to float across multiple campuses
  • Availability for 36/48-hour rotations, including days, nights, and every other weekend
  • Participation in orientation and ongoing training
  • Call shifts (approximately two per month), including both ground and air transports
  • Professional and clean scrubs in Pewter color
