Job Title: Temporary-to-Permanent Respiratory Therapist with DME Experience

Location: Richmond, VA

Hourly Rate: $48.00

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our team in Richmond, VA. This role offers a pathway from temporary to permanent employment for qualified candidates committed to delivering exceptional patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will possess solid experience with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and maintain medically prescribed respiratory equipment and supplies, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Assess and meet patients' respiratory needs by providing customized care plans that align with their health goals.
  • Educate patients and their caregivers on the proper use of ventilators and other respiratory and DME equipment to promote independence and optimal health outcomes.
  • Conduct follow-up evaluations of respiratory equipment and therapy effectiveness, adjusting care plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive discharge plans and contribute to patient care conferences.
  • Accurately document patient care services and interventions in medical records, maintaining compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on respiratory equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and coordinate repairs to ensure continuous operation.
  • Stay current with industry best practices by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and engaging with professional networks.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of in-service training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including licensing and certification requirements, and provide guidance on legislative updates.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by supporting colleagues and sharing expertise.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a two-year college degree in Respiratory Therapy or higher.
  • Valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence.
  • Proven experience with DME equipment and respiratory therapy procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a professional bedside manner.
  • In-depth knowledge of physiological processes, infection control, and health promotion.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to educate and collaborate effectively with patients and team members.
  • Sound judgment and procedural skills for the safe and effective operation of respiratory equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to maintaining professional development through ongoing education and training.
