What You’ll Do
Provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population in the PCU/Stepdown unit
Manage a caseload of 1:3-4 patients, including those with cardiac, respiratory, neurologic, or post-surgical needs
Titrate cardiac meds, insulin, and vasopressors as ordered, including drugs like EKG, chest tubes, traches, central lines, and drains
Monitor and respond to patient changes rapidly, including managing cardiac devices and performing EKG competency assessments
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including techs, support staff, and physicians
Document patient care accurately in Meditech Expanse EMR system
Adhere to hospital policies including proper PPE use, badge visibility, and scrub protocol
What You Need
Valid RN license in Louisiana or eligible for reciprocation
Minimum of 2 years experience in PCU or similar acute care setting
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications (LVAD preferred for West unit)
Ability to perform EKG assessments and titrate complex cardiac interventions
Strong assessment skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
About the Assignment
Join a well-established, diverse, traveler-friendly unit focused on providing exceptional care to adult patients recovering from cardiac, respiratory, and other complex conditions. The unit supports a collaborative environment and utilizes Meditech Expanse EMR for documentation. Expect a 4-day workweek with every other weekend rotation and work on major holidays as scheduled.
