Registered Nurse - PCU

Hourly Pay Rate: $46.90

Overview:
As a Registered Nurse - PCU, you will provide specialized care to patients with cardiac and medical conditions across three dedicated units, including cardiac stepdown, medical stepdown, and overflow units. Your expertise will support complex patient needs such as post-surgical recovery, respiratory failure, sepsis, and other critical conditions. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in a PCU or similar setting
  • Proven proficiency in titrating cardiac drips, insulin, and vasopressors (e.g., Esmolol, Cardene, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Norepinephrine)
  • Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac and medical patient management, including central line care, chest tubes, wound care, and patient monitoring
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Nice to Have Skills:
  • LVAD certification (preferred for 2 West)
  • Experience managing Temporary Pacemakers and pulling venous sheaths
  • Additional certifications or training in cardiac interventions or advanced cardiovascular care

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Active RN license in good standing
  • At least 2 years of recent, full-time acute care RN experience in a hospital setting, specifically in PCU or cardiac stepdown units
  • First-time traveler candidates must have two years of permanent staff experience in acute care; previous staff must be separated for one year from a previous travel assignment

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including every other weekend, scheduled days off, and working major holidays
  • Willingness to work 4 days one week and 3 days the next, with up to 7 days of approved time off (full week RTO must be requested in advance)
  • No on-call responsibilities; will work regular shifts only
  • Scrubs: Pewter color; T-shirts in gray, white, or black with WK monogram; jackets in gray or black
  • Uniforms and badges must be worn appropriately at all times
  • Free parking in designated areas
  • Additional in-house support available, including CNAs, respiratory therapists, and unit secretaries
