Registered Nurse - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to provide advanced patient care in our Progressive Care Units, specializing in cardiac and medical stepdown patients. This role requires clinical expertise, compassion, and a commitment to safety and precision. You will be integral to a team that values diverse backgrounds and fosters professional growth. Your contributions will help facilitate smooth patient transitions and optimal health outcomes during critical recovery phases.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 2 years recent experience as an RN in a PCU or similar critical care setting.
Proficiency in titrating cardiac drips, insulin and vasopressors (e.g., Esmolol, Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Labetolol, Levophed, Nipride, Nitro).
Ability to manage chest tubes, traches, central lines, drains, and wound care.
Strong competency in managing venous sheaths, TR Bands, and temporary pacemakers.
Must pass an EKG competency exam prior to orientation.
Excellent critical thinking, patient monitoring, and communication skills.
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience with Meditech Expanse EMR system.
Additional certifications related to cardiac or critical care.
Knowledge of Chest X-ray interpretation and advanced cardiac management.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
2+ years of recent acute care RN experience, particularly in cardiac or medical stepdown units.
Previous travel experience is advantageous; first-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff experience in acute care and be separated for at least 1 year if previously employed as staff.
Other Requirements:
Ability to work weekday and weekend shifts, including every other weekend.
Will work 4 days one week and 3 days the next, with up to 7 days of approved time off.
No on-call requirement; scheduled to work major holidays (2 of 3).
Evidence of compliance with hospital protocols, including competency exams and certifications.
Must wear designated PPE (Pewter scrubs, gray/white/black shirts with WK monogram, gray/black jackets).
