Registered Nurse - PCU

Are you a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity? Join our dynamic hospital team as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), where your expertise will make a vital difference in patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a patient load of 1:3-4, delivering exceptional care to cardiac and medical stepdown patients.
  • Titrate cardiac, insulin, and vasopressor drips such as Esmolol, Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Labetolol, Levophed, Nipride, and Nitro.
  • Monitor and manage chest tubes, tracheostomies, central lines, drains, and wounds.
  • Perform venous sheath management, TR Band application, and temporary pacemaker care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including CNAs, techs, RTs, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent PCU RN experience.
  • Valid CPR/BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
  • Ability to pass an EKG competency exam before starting.
  • Proficiency in titrating cardiac medications and managing complex cardiac devices.
  • Strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and communication skills.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • LVAD certification.
  • Experience with Meditech Expanse EMR and Alaris IV pumps.
  • Knowledge of managing venous sheaths, TR Bands, and temporary pacemakers.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Previous experience in cardiac or medical stepdown units preferred.

Other Requirements:
  • Must have at least 2 years of perm staff experience if applying as a first-time traveler.
  • Separated from previous travel assignments for at least 1 year if previously employed as a traveler.
  • Travel is not required on call; no overnight call shifts.
  • Willingness to work every other weekend, with mandatory 4-day/3-day workweeks as scheduled.
  • Ability to work two major holidays per year.
  • Scrubs: Pewter color; T-shirts in gray, white, or black with WK monogram; gray or black jackets.
  • Provide valid badges worn above the waist at all times.
