Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert nursing care to patients with conditions such as AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, ARF, post-heart caths, stroke, TPA administration, spinal surgeries, and more.
Monitor and titrate IV medications including Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, and Levophed (manager approval required for titratables).
Manage critical patient needs such as chest tubes, tracheostomies, peritoneal dialysis, CSF drains, and perform EKGs confidently.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including charge nurses, RTs, hospitalists, therapists, and support staff.
Maintain accurate documentation using Meditech Expanse EMR, and operate IV pumps and Pyxis medication systems efficiently.
Support patient care on multiple units as needed, including stroke and medical-surgical units, maintaining appropriate patient ratios.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 2 years of clinical acute care experience.
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications.
Proficiency in titratable medication administration, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and EKG interpretation.
Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start.
Excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient management skills.
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience with Peritoneal Dialysis, lumbar CSF drains.
Familiarity with Meditech Expanse EMR and IV pump operations.
Prior experience working in Stroke, CVA, or TIA units.
Ability to manage complex patient treatments and support team members with technical procedures.
Preferred Education and Experience:
RN license in good standing.
At least 2 years of recent acute care RN experience, preferably in cardiac, stroke, or medical-surgical units.
First-time travelers considered if they meet the experience criteria.
Other Requirements:
Willingness to work a 5/2 rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays (work 2/3 holidays).
Ability to work every other weekend and comply with unit scheduling policies.
Must wear appropriate scrubs and badges; parking available in designated areas.
No extended time off requests exceeding 7 days, with limited weekend RTO allowed per contract.
Supporting documentation and certifications must be current and in compliance.
