Registered Nurse - PCU
Overview:

Required Skills:
Valid Nursing License (State-specific)
BLS and ACLS certifications
Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
1-2 years of recent progressive care or med-surg experience
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Proficiency in titrating cardiac, vasopressor, and insulin drips
Experience managing central lines, venous sheaths, tracheostomies, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and wound care
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Nice to Have Skills:
NIHSS certification (preferred)
Experience with Meditech Expanse EMR system
Ability to handle complex patient issues such as respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, sepsis, post-surgical, post-cardiac cath, alcohol withdrawal, IV drug abuse, altered mental status, etc.
Skills in blood product management and advanced airway management
Preferred Education and Experience:
RN License with at least 1-2 years of clinical experience in a high-acuity unit
Prior travel nurse experience welcomed, including first-time travelers (must have been separated for at least 1 year if previously employed as perm staff)
Other Requirements:
Must be separated from previous travel assignments for at least 1 year
Ability to float between units, including Cardiac Stepdown and Medical-Surgical units (patient ratios vary)
Willingness to work a flexible schedule: 4 days one week, 3 days the next, with every other weekend rotation and 2-3 major holidays annually
Availability for paid orientation (2 days hospital, 2 shifts on unit)
No on-call required, but will work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Blackout dates: Halloween 2024 and Black Friday 2024
Scrub color: Pewter
