We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to provide exceptional perioperative care at the University of Kansas Hospital’s Main Campus. This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility, supporting diverse surgical procedures while advancing your skills in a challenging and rewarding setting. As a key member of our healthcare team, you'll deliver top-quality patient care, ensure safety standards, and contribute to successful surgical outcomes.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 2 years of extensive RN experience in a Level 1 trauma setting
Skilled in independently managing complex cases, including neuro spine, large head and neck, DaVinci robot procedures, and ex lap surgeries
Proven scrubbing experience in a fast-paced surgical environment
Strong knowledge of OR protocols, patient safety, and infection control practices
Excellent critical thinking, communication, and teamwork abilities
Ability to adapt quickly to evolving clinical needs and work effectively under pressure
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Trauma, GYN, Urology, or Plastics
Familiarity with additional surgical specialties and newer operative technologies
Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Preferred Education and Experience:
Current Kansas RN license or valid Compact State license
ADN degree required; BSN preferred
At least two years of prior experience in a high-acuity surgical environment
Other Requirements:
Available for 12-hour shifts, primarily days from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, with weekend rotation (Fri/Sat/Sun)
Must be willing to float across all ORs as needed
On-call availability up to six shifts per 13-week contract
Commitment to Nicotine-free workplace environment
Successful completion of an 8-hour orientation session
Valid RN licensure and BLS certification
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
