Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
Position Type: Full-Time
Shift Schedule: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Weekly Schedule: Every Other Weekend
On-Call Requirement: As needed, no more than one on-call shift per week
Holiday Rotation: Rotating schedule
Travel: Not required
Start Date: ASAP

Overview:
Join The University of Kansas Health System in Great Bend as a dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse. This role offers an excellent opportunity to provide comprehensive prenatal, labor, delivery, and postpartum care within a collaborative healthcare environment. We are seeking compassionate, skilled nurses committed to delivering exceptional patient care and supporting families during one of life's most important moments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert nursing care to obstetric patients throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.
  • Monitor fetal well-being using advanced fetal heart monitoring techniques.
  • Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, ensuring patient safety.
  • Educate patients and their families on labor, postpartum care, and newborn care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments and interventions.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and assist in managing obstetric complications.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and safety protocols.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school (New Graduates are encouraged to apply).
  • Current nursing license in Kansas (KSC).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within the first two weeks of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within six months.
  • Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification within one year of employment.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of hire.
  • Previous obstetric nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Competitive hourly pay rate from $30 to $36.50 based on experience and qualifications.
  • Shift differentials include $2.30 for evening hours (1500-2300) and $3.75 for overnight hours (2300-0700).
  • Weekend differential of $3.00 from Friday 7:00 PM to Monday 7:00 AM.
