Position: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
Location: The University of Kansas Health System, Great Bend, KS

Schedule: Full-Time, Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Shift Requirements:
  • Working every other weekend
  • On-call duties as needed (up to one shift per week)
  • Rotating holidays

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive hourly wage ranging from $30.00 to $36.50, commensurate with experience
  • Shift differentials for evening ($2.30/hour from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM) and night shifts ($3.75/hour from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend differential ($3.00/hour from 7:00 PM Friday to 7:00 AM Monday)
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans
  • Sign-on bonus not applicable
  • Relocation assistance provided for qualifying candidates

Role Overview:
As a vital member of our maternal health team, the Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery unit will deliver exceptional patient care during childbirth and postpartum services. You will collaborate with obstetricians, neonatologists, and support staff to ensure the safety and comfort of mothers and newborns. The role requires providing holistic, evidence-based care, educating families, and responding promptly to emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care in labor, delivery, and postpartum environments
  • Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal conditions to identify any complications early
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to all safety protocols
  • Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families
  • Participate in patient safety initiatives and adhere to infection control standards
  • Ensure documentation compliance according to hospital policies and procedures

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; new graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Valid Kansas Registered Nurse License (KSC)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the first two weeks of employment
  • ACLS certification (preferred upon hire or within designated timeframe)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within six months of hire
  • Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification within one year of employment
  • PALS certification within 6 months of employment

  • Ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations
