Registered Nurse - Stroke

Required Skills:
Valid RN license in your state
BLS and ACLS certifications
Experience with stroke and cerebrovascular events (CVA/TIA)
Ability to administer and manage TPA and other titratable medications (Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Levophed), with manager approval if exceptions apply
Proficiency in chest tube management, tracheostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, and lumbar CSF drains (preferred)
Ability to support cardiac monitoring, including EKG competency assessment prior to assignment
Strong charting skills using Meditech Expanse EMR
Knowledge of telemetry monitoring and remote monitoring systems
Excellent patient assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience in stepdown or MedSurg units
Skills in phlebotomy and IV insertion
Familiarity with hospitalist care, RT, OT, PT, and speech therapy collaboration
Experience in a traveler-friendly environment
Preferred Education and Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in acute care settings
Prior stroke or neuro-related nursing experience preferred
First-time travelers must have two years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care; previous travel experience is not required but a strong acute care background is essential.
Other Requirements:
Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays as scheduled
Night shift availability; rotating schedule with designated days off
Must pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
Supportive team environment with unit-specific orientation and ongoing training
Scrub color designated as Pewter; consistent uniform and badge adherence
