Registered Nurse - PCU

Hourly Pay Rate: $50.25
Overview:
As a Registered Nurse in our PCU, you will deliver exceptional, patient-centered care to individuals with varied and often critical medical conditions, including cardiac and medical stepdown patients. You will play a vital role in managing complex cases such as post-surgical care, respiratory failure, CVA, sepsis, and cardiac interventions. Your expertise will ensure high-quality outcomes, patient safety, and clinical excellence in a diverse and traveler-friendly environment.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 2 years of recent PCU RN experience
Valid BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
Proficiency in titrating cardiac drips, insulin infusions, and vasopressors (e.g., EKG management, chest tubes, central lines, drains)
Strong clinical skills in wound care, managing medical devices, and patient monitoring
Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
Nice to Have Skills:
LVAD certification (preferred for 2W units)
Experience with management of temporary pacemakers and venous sheaths
Additional certifications such as IV therapy or advanced cardiac life support
Preferred Education and Experience:
Nursing degree from an accredited program (Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
At least 2 years of recent acute care RN experience, preferably in a hospital setting
Experience with Cardiac Stepdown or Medical Stepdown units invaluable
Other Requirements:
Valid RN license in the state of practice
Certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS mandatory; LVAD certification a plus
Ability to work 4-day and 3-day flexible schedules, including every other weekend rotation
Willingness to work holidays; typically 2-3 major holidays per year
Must be separated for at least 1 year if previously employed as a perm staff
Scrub color: Pewter, with gray, white, or black T-shirts with WK monogram; jackets in gray or black
No call required; weekend rotation included, with up to 7 days of time off per contract (full week RTO requires contract extension)
Able to work in a diverse, traveler-friendly environment with cross-unit floating opportunities
