Registered Nurse - Post-Cardiac Care Unit (PCU)

What You Will Do:
Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiac and medical stepdown patients, including post-CABG, lung surgeries, PCI procedures, and complex medical cases.
Titrate cardiac drugs, insulin, and vasopressors such as Esmolol, Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, and more.
Manage central lines, chest tubes, tracheostomies, drains, and perform wound care.
Support patient recovery with vigilant monitoring, frequent interventions, and adherence to safety protocols.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including CNAs, techs, secretaries, and specialists, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 2 years of recent PCU RN experience in an acute care setting.
Proficiency in titrating cardiac drips, insulin, and vasopressors.
Competency in managing chest tubes, central lines, and related procedures.
Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to onboarding.
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Excellent clinical assessment skills and strong attention to detail.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Nice to Have Skills:
LVAD certification (preferred for 2 West).
Experience with venous sheath management, TR Bands, and temporary pacemaker management.
Additional certifications related to cardiac care.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
At least 2 years of critical care or stepdown experience, with specific exposure to cardiac patients.
Prior travel nursing experience or willingness to travel.
Other Requirements:
Valid nursing license in good standing.
Ability to work 4-day weeks on a rotating schedule, including every other weekend.
Availability to work 2-3 major holidays per year.
Must have recent acute care experience; first-time travelers need at least 2 years of permanent staff RN experience.
No call required; flexibility with time off requests up to 7 days.
Must adhere to unit dress code: pewter scrubs, gray/white/black T-shirts, gray/black jackets, badges worn above the waist.

Must be fully vaccinated and compliant with hospital policies.
