Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Hourly Rate: $50.25

Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Registered Nurse in the highly dynamic Progressive Care Unit (PCU), where your expertise directly impacts patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment. As part of our team, you'll provide exceptional patient care for diverse cases, including cardiac, stroke, and post-surgical patients, utilizing cutting-edge equipment and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive treatment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience in an acute care setting, specifically in med-surg or PCU.
  • Valid RN licensure in the state of employment.
  • Current certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale.
  • Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start.
  • Proficiency in managing titratable medications such as Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, and Levophed (manager approval required for offering without this experience).
  • Skilled in chest tube management, tracheostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, and lumbar drains (preferred).
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to unit support roles including charge nurse responsibilities and support staff functions.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with EMR systems, specifically Meditech Expanse.
  • Familiarity with IV Pumps (Alaris), Pyxis medication dispensing, and telemetry monitoring.
  • Knowledge of support services including RT, hospitalist, OT, PT, and ST.
  • Previous experience working in stroke or cardiac units.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher degree preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Travel nursing experience is advantageous; first-time travelers must have a minimum of 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care and be separated for at least 1 year if previously employed as perm staff.

Other Requirements:
  • Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Flexibility to work a 4-day or 3-day schedule weekly, with mandatory night shifts in a 5/2 schedule pattern.
  • Willingness to work every other weekend and two holidays per 13-week contract.
  • Free parking in designated areas.
  • Uniform attire includes pewter scrubs, gray/white/black T-shirts with WK monogram, and gray or black jackets.
  • Must wear badges visibly above the waist at all times.
