Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse - PCU and Make a Difference in Patient Care!
Are you a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse looking for an exciting opportunity in a Progressive Care Unit? We are seeking skilled professionals to provide exceptional care to diverse patient populations, including cardiac, stroke, and surgical cases. This role offers a dynamic environment where your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients in the PCU setting.
Monitor and manage complex conditions such as AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, ARF, post-surgical recoveries, and stroke interventions.
Administer titratable medications (e.g., Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, Levophed) with managerial approval, and support chest tube management, tracheostomies, and peritoneal dialysis as needed.
Conduct EKG competency assessments prior to start date, ensuring compliance and safety.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurses, RTs, hospitalists, and therapy services.
Utilize Meditech Expanse EMR, operate IV pumps (Alaris), and dispense medications via Pyxis.
Maintain competency in central line care, CSF drains, and other specialized procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Valid RN license with current credentials.
Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care hospital experience.
Proficiency in titratable medication management (preferred but not mandatory with manager approval).
Strong clinical assessment skills, particularly in telemetry and high-acuity patient care.
Ability to pass EKG competency testing.
BLS and ACLS certification.
NIH Stroke Scale certification is required.
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience with chest tube management, tracheostomies, and peritoneal dialysis.
Knowledge of EMR systems, specifically Meditech Expanse.
Flexible scheduling ability, including working nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
At least two years of relevant clinical experience in a hospital setting, preferably in PCU, telemetry, or MedSurg units.
Other Requirements:
Active state licensure, with valid certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
Ability to work every Monday and Tuesday on a scheduled rotation; night shifts required.
Willingness to work holiday shifts and occasional weekend rotations.
Positive attitude, professional appearance (scrub color Pewter, with specific uniform requirements), and adherence to hospital policies.
Valid driver’s license and access to transportation preferred.
