Overview
As a Registered Nurse - ER, you will be at the forefront of emergency medicine, providing critical care to patients ranging from newborns to geriatrics. You will collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure swift, effective treatment for conditions including respiratory distress, strokes, cardiac issues, trauma, and mental health crises. This role offers a stimulating environment where your critical thinking, clinical skills, and compassion will truly make a difference.
Required Skills
Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications
Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
Strong critical thinking, IV insertion, medication administration, and dosage calculation skills
Self-motivated, able to handle high-pressure situations
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Experience with Meditech Expanse EMR and IV pumps (Alaris) preferred
Nice to Have Skills
Experience working in emergency departments with a diverse patient demographic
Ability to support phlebotomy, PICC/midline placements, and other support functions
Prior experience with hospitalist teams and ER educators
Preferred Education and Experience
Minimum of 2 years of current ED experience for first-time travelers or 1 year with previous ER experience for seasoned travelers
Perm staff must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
Previous experience with acute care settings highly valued
Other Requirements
Valid RN license in applicable state
Ability to work 8-week schedules with 3 or 4 shifts per week, including every other weekend rotation
Flexibility to work 2-3 holidays annually
No on-call responsibilities; scheduled shifts only
Successful completion of hospital orientation (minimum 4 days)
Travel and licensure reimbursements where applicable
Willingness to work with unit-specific culture promoting family, teamwork, and traveler friendliness
