Shift: Day/Night shifts; 4 days one week, 3 days the next
Hours per week: 36-40 hours
Employment Type: Contract
Licenses/Certifications: Active BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; LVAD preferred (2W only)
Experience: Minimum 2 years PCU RN experience, cardiac or medical stepdown
Pay Rate: $50.25/hour
Benefits: Weekly pay, health benefits, paid sick time, licensure, certification, travel reimbursements, referral bonus, onsite support
What You’ll Do
Manage patients in cardiac and medical stepdown units, including post-surgical, respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, sepsis, and more
Titrate cardiac drugs, insulin, vasopressors; manage chest tubes, central lines, wound care, and drains
Perform venous sheath management, TR Band placement, and temporary pacemaker care (preferred skills)
Conduct assessments and monitor patient vitals, IV drips, and complex cardiac interventions
Document accurately in Meditech Expanse EMR system
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including CNA, rehab tech, unit secretary, RT, and hospitalists
Support unit activities, including participation in holiday rotations and possible floating within related units
What You Need
Required: Active RN license in Louisiana, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; 2 years’ RN experience in PCU or similar setting
Preferred: LVAD certification, experience with cardiac device management
Skills: Ability to pass an EKG competency exam, titration skills, central line care, venous sheath management, and general PCU nursing skills
