What You’ll Do
  • Provide direct patient care in a PCU setting for medically complex patients.
  • Monitor and manage patients with diagnoses such as AFIB/RVR, DKA, COPD, ARF, and post-procedural cardiac needs (e.g., s/p heart caths).
  • Support care for stroke unit overflow patients, including those in need of TPA administration.
  • Assist with complex clinical needs such as titratable infusions (e.g., Cardene/Cardizem, insulin, heparin, neo, levophed).
  • Support therapies and procedures including chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and peritoneal dialysis as applicable.
  • Utilize and document care using EMR (Meditech Expanse) and medication workflow tools (e.g., Pyxis) in accordance with unit standards.

What You Need
Required
  • Active RN license (per role requirements—license not specified in posting)
  • 2 years acute care RN experience
  • BLS, ACLS, NIH
  • Ability to complete required competency onboarding including an EKG competency exam prior to arrival

Preferred
  • Experience with chest tube management, tracheostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, ISTAT, and CSF (lumbar) drains

About the Assignment
This PCU position supports a 24-bed unit caring for higher-acuity patients, including complex cardiac cases and stroke-related overflow. Staffing includes RN ratios of 1:3 and CNA ratios of 1:7, with support services such as in-house RT, centralized telemetry monitoring, and in-house resources depending on staffing needs.
