Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Psychologist to serve at a federal detention facility in Jena, LA. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive mental health assessments, therapy, and consultation services within a secure, multidisciplinary setting. This position offers an opportunity to utilize your clinical expertise in a challenging yet rewarding environment, contributing to the well-being and safety of detainees while supporting the facility’s mental health programs.
Required Skills:
Doctoral Degree in Psychology from an APA-accredited program
Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in Louisiana
Minimum of one year of clinical practice at the independent level as a licensed psychologist
Proficiency in psychological assessment, testing, diagnosis, and treatment planning
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge of HIPAA and Privacy Act regulations regarding patient confidentiality
Experience with electronic health records and Microsoft Office Suite
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience implementing or managing mental health treatment programs, especially within correctional or detention settings
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
Experience providing telehealth or tele-behavioral health services
Familiarity with Modified Therapeutic Community models or similar treatment approaches
Preferred Education and Experience:
Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited institution
At least one year of clinical experience in a detention, correctional, or residential healthcare environment
Experience with mental health and substance use disorder treatment in high-security settings
Other Requirements:
Valid BLS for Healthcare Providers® certification through the American Heart Association® or Red Cross
Ability to respond to medical emergencies within four minutes
Willingness to work day shifts, including weekends and holidays, with rotational on-call duties
Ability to pass all required security and background checks, including initial and ongoing fitness determinations by DHS
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $80.00, with benefits including weekly pay via direct deposit, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, a robust referral bonus program, and paid sick leave in accordance with applicable laws. There is no weekly per diem associated with this assignment.
