Overview
This inpatient-only Gastroenterology position involves performing essential procedures such as endoscopies, colonoscopies, and ERCPs, with a focus on patient care during scheduled shifts. You'll work with a supportive team of endoscopy-trained nursing staff and have access to Anesthesia back-up, ensuring smooth, effective procedures. Ideal for providers interested in a structured 24-hour call schedule, this role offers a dynamic and fulfilling environment to practice advanced GI medicine in a community hospital setting.
Required Skills
Board-certified or eligible in Gastroenterology with valid medical licensure for Texas
Proficiency in standard GI procedures, including endoscopies, colonoscopies, and ERCPs
Ability to perform and interpret ERCP procedures
Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
Experience working in inpatient settings and managing diverse GI conditions
Competence in working with electronic health records, currently Paragon, with plans to transition to Epic in 2026
Nice to Have Skills
Experience with EUS procedures
Familiarity with inpatient hospital workflows and consult management
Emergency procedural skills beyond typical GI interventions
Preferred Education and Experience
Minimum of 2 years of post-fellowship clinical experience in Gastroenterology
Prior inpatient and ERCP experience highly preferred
Board certification in Gastroenterology
Other Requirements
Must be able to commit to the shift schedule of 7 am to 7 am for 24-hour call coverage
Ability to cover specific dates: March 16–21, June 8–12, 2026
Must have or be able to obtain Texas medical licensure and active DEA registration
Successful credentialing within 60-90 days; timely submission of documentation is essential
Willingness to travel and accommodate lodging preferences in Lufkin, TX
