Overview:
Brattleboro Memorial Hospital (BMH), a 61-bed nonprofit community hospital committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care, is seeking a dedicated Hospitalist Physician to join its collaborative medical team. This full-time, permanent position offers a unique opportunity to serve a rural population across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, within a supportive and mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care including admissions, daily patient rounding, and discharge planning.
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions, ensuring evidence-based, high-quality care.
Collaborate effectively with specialists, primary care providers, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, anesthesiology providers, and emergency medicine teams to coordinate patient care.
Lead multidisciplinary care planning, ensuring seamless transitions of care across departments.
Order, interpret, and respond to laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures to inform clinical decision-making.
Document all patient encounters thoroughly and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Respond swiftly to medical emergencies, including codes and rapid response situations, with appropriate interventions.
Manage ventilator support and oversee respiratory therapy as needed.
Participate in clinical rounds, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
Educate patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care to promote understanding and compliance.
Contribute to hospital committees and performance evaluations, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and institutional policies.
Qualifications and Requirements:
MD or DO degree with board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
Valid and active medical license in the state of Vermont or eligible for licensure.
Certification or eligibility for ACLS and BLS.
DEA registration.
J1 Visa sponsorship required; candidates must be willing to work exclusively at this location with no more than one hour commuting distance.
Prior inpatient/hospital medicine experience preferred but not mandatory.
Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a rural setting.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Additional Requirements:
No procedural responsibilities required.

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: $300,000 - $350,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.
Hourly pay rate: $19.50 (equivalent to an annual salary range), with comprehensive benefits including:
