Vascular Surgeon – Full-Time – Findlay, Ohio
Blanchard Valley Health System, in collaboration with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, is seeking a highly qualified, Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Vascular Surgeon to join our dynamic team. This is an exceptional opportunity to develop and lead a community-focused vascular surgery program in Northwest Ohio, providing comprehensive care in a collaborative and patient-centered environment.
Position Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and expanding a vascular surgery service line, managing a diverse caseload, and participating in program development including recruitment and facility upgrades. The role offers schedule flexibility, strong clinical support, and involvement in academic activities through an affiliation with The Ohio State University.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Development: Establish and oversee a community-based vascular surgery program, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including cardiology, interventional radiology, and primary care. Participate in strategic planning for future expansion, including recruitment efforts and transitioning to a hybrid operating room (planned completion by 2027).
Clinical Practice: Manage a broad spectrum of vascular conditions, including abdominal and thoracic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, dialysis access, peripheral vascular disease, and limb salvage procedures. Perform both open and endovascular surgeries.
Patient Care & Consultation: Provide expert vascular surgical care, including medical management and non-surgical interventions. Educate patients and families on treatment options, preventive strategies, and wellness.
Operational Duties: Conduct two outpatient clinic days and three surgical/procedural days weekly. Participate in a call schedule consisting of approximately ten night/weekend shifts per month, shared with a PRN vascular surgeon, APP, and OSU surgeon (phone support only).
Supervision & Teaching: Supervise advanced practice providers involved in vascular care. Serve as a preceptor and educator for medical students, residents, fellows, nurses, and allied health professionals.
Research & Academic Role: Maintain a faculty appointment (Assistant or Associate Professor) with The Ohio State University, with a focus on clinical duties and teaching.
Medical degree (MD or DO) with Board Certification or Eligibility in Vascular Surgery
Eligible for medical licensure in Ohio
Demonstrated expertise in both open and endovascular procedures
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to quality patient care
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive base salary starting at $500,000 (0-3 years experience), up to $600,000+ (7+ years)
Potential annual bonus up to $75,000 based on performance metrics
One-time signing bonus of $50,000
Relocation assistance up to $15,000
Generous paid time off: 176 hours of vacation, 240 hours carryover; 120 hours sick leave
11 paid holidays annually
CME allowance of $7,500 per year
Retirement plans through 401(k) and 403(b), with eligibility for Ohio State University retirement benefits
Academic appointment (Assistant or Associate Professor) with OSU
