Position: Medical Physicist – Radiation Oncology (Perm, Part-Time)
Location: Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, OH

Blanchard Valley Hospital invites applications for a part-time Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to join our dedicated oncology team. Position Overview:
The Medical Physicist will utilize a comprehensive understanding of physics to develop, implement, and oversee radiation treatment plans and safety protocols. The role involves ensuring the accuracy and safety of radiotherapy procedures, supporting treatment planning, and maintaining high standards of equipment performance. The Physicist will collaborate closely with Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, and Therapy staff to optimize patient outcomes and uphold compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Radiation Oncology Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety programs, ensuring adherence to all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Manage and perform routine calibration, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of medical physics ancillary equipment, including treatment delivery systems and QA devices.
  • Oversee daily, monthly, and annual QA activities for linear accelerators, CT simulators, and treatment planning software, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Serve as the primary contact for equipment downtime, emergency consultations, and regulatory inspections.
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists to develop and review individualized treatment plans, including special procedures such as IMRT, SBRT, SRS, and HyperArc treatments.
  • Perform dosimetric calculations and quality assurance reviews of treatment plans, including complex stereotactic procedures.
  • Lead commissioning and ongoing maintenance of stereotactic and HyperArc equipment, ensuring proper setup within the treatment planning system.
  • Maintain detailed records of patient treatments, QA activities, and regulatory documentation.
  • Participate actively in clinical protocol development, research initiatives, and professional certifications, fostering ongoing departmental excellence.

Qualifications:
  • Board Certification in Medical Physics (ABR or equivalent) or Board Eligibility with eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Proven experience in radiation therapy physics, including experience with linear accelerators, treatment planning systems, and stereotactic techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards related to radiation oncology.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Schedule & Work Environment:
  • Practice hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
  • This is a part-time, on-site position requiring approximately 2 days per week, with flexibility for additional remote work up to 20 hours.
  • The role includes coverage for colleagues’ sick and vacation leave, with availability for emergency consultation as needed.
