Senior Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist
Location: Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, OH
Certification Requirement: Board Certified in Medical Physics

Position Overview:
Blanchard Valley Hospital is seeking a highly qualified, Board-Certified Senior Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to provide full-time coverage at our state-of-the-art Cancer Care Center. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and oversee all aspects of radiation physics operations to ensure safe, effective, and precise patient care. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Radiation Oncology Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety Program, ensuring adherence to current policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform daily, monthly, and annual QA testing on linear accelerators, CT simulators, and treatment planning systems, serving as the primary contact for equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, and Therapists to review treatment plans, perform initial physics consults, and verify dosimetry calculations, with a focus on advanced techniques such as IMRT, SBRT, SRS, and SRT.
  • Oversee and manage all physics-related software systems, including treatment planning and QA software, ensuring proper updates and functionality.
  • Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards pertaining to radiation safety and medical physics practices.
  • Manage dosimetry operations, provide coverage in the absence of dosimetrists, and participate in weekly chart reviews for quality assurance and plan validation.
  • Serve as the designated Certified Radiation Expert for the Cancer Care Center, providing expertise on safety protocols and regulatory inspections.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize treatment strategies and improve patient outcomes.
  • Lead efforts to evaluate and integrate new treatment modalities, participate in clinical protocols, and support ongoing accreditation and certification activities.

Schedule & Coverage:
  • Full-time on-site presence three days/week with two days remote.
  • Part-time coverage two days/week on-site (matching full-time days) plus optional remote half-day, up to 20 hours/week.
  • Flexibility to provide emergency consultation and substitute for colleagues during sick or vacation leave.

Qualifications:
  • Board Certified in Medical Physics (American Board of Radiology or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience with radiation therapy equipment, QA procedures, and treatment planning systems.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with advanced radiation techniques such as SRS, SBRT, and HyperArc.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards governing radiation safety and medical physics.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
