Job Title: Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) Location: Dothan, Alabama, United States
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Dothan, AL. This role is integral to providing specialized, patient-centered care to individuals facing serious, chronic, and life-threatening illnesses. The ideal candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve quality of life, manage symptoms effectively, and support patients and their families through complex healthcare journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct comprehensive assessments to establish individualized care plans focusing on symptom management, pain control, and overall comfort. Prescribe appropriate medications and treatments in compliance with state regulations. Order and interpret necessary diagnostic tests and studies.
Interprofessional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic care. Facilitate clear communication among team members to ensure continuous and effective patient support.
Patient and Family Education: Provide clear, compassionate education regarding disease progression, treatment options, and symptom management strategies. Support patients and their families emotionally, offering counseling and guidance as needed to assist in informed decision-making.
Advocacy and Support: Serve as a patient advocate by ensuring individual preferences and goals are prioritized throughout the care process. Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families confronting challenging health situations.
Work Schedule and Compensation:
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with no weekend or on-call requirements.
Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Qualifications:
Licensing and Certification: Valid Alabama Nurse Practitioner license. Certified as a Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) with a focus on palliative or hospice care preferred.
Experience: Prior clinical experience in palliative care, hospice, or related specialty strongly preferred.
Professional Attributes: Demonstrates empathy, compassion, and a commitment to delivering patient-centered care. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential.
