Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) – Cardiothoracic Surgery (PERM)
Location: Dothan, Alabama
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join a well-established hospital-employed surgical team in Dothan, Alabama. The chosen candidate will play a vital role in providing comprehensive perioperative and postoperative care within a high-volume cardiovascular surgery program. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers an exceptional opportunity for professional growth in a supportive community setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in complex cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including vein harvesting and surgical first assisting.
Perform vein harvesting independently with demonstrated experience; RNFA certification required for NPs.
Participate actively in preoperative assessments, perioperative management, and postoperative patient care.
Conduct hospital rounds and coordinate interdisciplinary care with cardiology, interventional radiology, and ICU teams.
Manage patient follow-ups in clinic, monitor recovery, and address postoperative concerns.
Support use of advanced surgical systems including the da Vinci robotic surgical platform and Maquet EVH system.
Provide coverage on a shared call basis (approximately 1 in 3) to ensure continuous patient care.
Qualifications:
Master’s or Doctoral Degree as an NP or PA with certification in cardiothoracic surgery facilitation.
Demonstrated vein harvesting experience and surgical first assisting skills.
RNFA certification (required for NP candidates).
Current state licensure and certifications pertinent to the NP or PA role.
Prior experience working in a high-volume cardiovascular surgery setting preferred.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
