Are you a dedicated Registered Nurse seeking an impactful role in a dynamic and challenging setting? Our organization is looking for an experienced PCU Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care within the James Corrections Health Unit. This 13-16 week contract offers a unique opportunity to apply your skills in a secure, correctional environment while making a meaningful contribution to inmate health and safety. If you have oncology experience and proficiency with EPIC charting, this position is an excellent fit for your professional growth.
Required Skills:
Valid RN license and assurance of active CPR/BLS certification
EPIC electronic health record systems proficiency
Experience in Medical-Surgical or Telemetry units
Ability to float across various Oncology MS units
Strong understanding of patient care procedures, including IV therapy, medication management, and cardiac monitoring
Knowledge of dysrhythmia interpretation and emergency response protocols
Effective communication and teamwork skills in a high-pressure environment
Nice to Have Skills:
Oncology care or hematology experience
Experience with complex patient management and secure correctional settings
Knowledge of Pyxis medication systems
Familiarity with special procedures such as PICC line management and insulin protocols
Preferred Education and Experience:
Licensed Registered Nurse with at least 1-2 years of recent experience in Medical-Surgical or Telemetry units
Prior experience working in correctional healthcare settings is advantageous but not mandatory
Strong background in oncology or chronic disease management preferred
Other Requirements:
Valid BLS certification (required)
Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends, with rotating schedules between days and nights
Willingness to float across units as needed
Must be able to pass a background check and adhere to correctional safety protocols
Willingness to work in a locked, secure environment under law enforcement supervision
Compensation & Benefits:
Hourly Pay Rate: $59.18
Weekly Pay via Direct Deposit
