We are currently looking for a dedicated PCU Registered Nurse to provide exceptional patient care within a secure corrections environment. This role offers an exciting chance to apply your skills in oncology, medical-surgical, and telemetry, supporting inmates with complex health needs. Key Responsibilities:
  • Float across Oncology Medical-Surgical units as needed, providing comprehensive nursing care.
  • Ensure staff and patient safety in a locked correctional environment.
  • Manage patients with active oncology diagnoses, hematology conditions, and other complex health issues.
  • Utilize EPIC charting system for documentation.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams including pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, and respiratory services.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and perform specialized procedures such as IV therapy, telemetry monitoring, and respiratory care.
  • Follow standardized medication protocols, including Heparin and PCA.
  • Manage diverse patient conditions including post-surgical, renal failure, and respiratory disorders.
  • Comply with all safety and procedural standards in a correctional setting.

Required Skills:
  • Valid RN license.
  • EPIC charting experience.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Proven ability to manage complex patient diagnoses and procedures.
  • Proficiency in telemetry, medication administration, IV therapy, and respiratory management.
  • Excellent critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt to varying shift assignments, including day and night rotations.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Oncology experience, particularly with solid tumors and hematology.
  • Experience working in correctional or high-security environments.
  • Additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), TNCC, or related specialties.
  • Knowledge of Pyxis medication management systems.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with recent experience in medical-surgical, telemetry, or oncology units.
  • Previous experience working with EMR systems, especially EPIC.

Other Requirements:
  • Certified in BLS; additional certifications a plus.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:30) on a rotating schedule, including weekends.
  • Ability to work in a secure correctional setting with strict safety protocols.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care in a highly regulated environment.
