Join Our Team as a PCU Registered Nurse – Make a Difference in High-Acuity Patient Care!

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled PCU Registered Nurse to join our team, providing critical care for oncology and progressive care patients. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a specialized unit with a collaborative team that values your expertise and commitment to excellent patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on a 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit, primarily focusing on high-acuity PCU patients.
  • Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias, manage cardiac and chest tube drains, and oversee invasive devices such as PICC lines, ports, and external airway devices.
  • Administer medications, including chemotherapy, and manage therapies like PCA and IV infusions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention protocols and patient safety standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by floating to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 2 years of high-acuity PCU experience, preferably in oncology.
  • Proficient in interpreting dysrhythmias, managing cardiac drips, and starting IVs.
  • Knowledge of advanced equipment such as GE telemetry systems, bladder scanners, and PCA pumps.
  • Strong critical thinking and quick decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient needs and unit demands.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring.
  • Skills in wound care, arterial line management, and non-invasive airway management.
  • Proficiency in managing complex therapies such as insulin titration and blood product administration.
  • Previous travel nursing experience and familiarity with floating within various units.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Valid RN license.
  • Over 2 years of relevant experience in oncology or high-acuity telemetry units.
  • Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with pediatric oncology patients is a plus but not required.

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work Night shifts (19:00 - 07:30) on a 12-hour schedule.
  • Willingness to participate in self-scheduling and orientation programs.
  • Valid certifications and adherence to licensure requirements.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn specialized oncology equipment and protocols.
  • Travel experience is advantageous but not necessary.

Hourly Pay Rate: $59.18
