PACU Registered Nurse - Pediatric & Adult Care in New Orleans, LA

What You’ll Do
  • Provide post-anesthesia care for pediatric and adult patients in a fast-paced environment
  • Float to pediatric PACU as needed, supporting various surgical/procedural populations
  • Monitor and assess patients recovering from major surgeries, including regional anesthesia and other special procedures
  • Operate specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts, bladder scanner, and Accuvein
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, quality care
  • Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health records
  • Support high patient volume across multiple ORs, managing patient ratios of 1:2
  • Participate in care for pre-op, Phase I and Phase II recovery stages

What You Need
  • Current ACLS, BCLS, and PALS certifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of PACU or Pre/Post Op experience; critical care post-op experience preferred
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment
  • Strong team communication skills
  • Flexibility to float as needed, including to pediatric units

About the Assignment

Join a fast-paced, high-volume surgical recovery unit supporting all major surgical services, including pediatric and adult populations. The department operates across two floors with 34 ORs, including specialized cysto, GI, interventional radiology, and pulmonary labs. The unit emphasizes patient safety, teamwork, and excellent postoperative care, accommodating a wide range of surgical procedures.
