Join a dynamic hospital-based team as a Locum Physician Assistant specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery. This critical role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care in a fast-paced inpatient setting. You'll support complex surgeries and patient management, making a tangible impact on patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures as First Assist in the OR.
Conduct rounding on ICU and floor patients.
Coordinate patient care and communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
Diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret diagnostic tests.
Write prescriptions and manage post-operative care, including sutures.
Perform procedures such as chest tube insertions and vascular tissue retrievals.
Provide consults and ensure comprehensive patient management.
Required Skills:
Eligible to practice as a Physician Assistant in New Jersey.
Proven experience in cardiothoracic or general surgery.
Proficiency in surgical assist techniques and patient assessment.
Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work varied shifts including weekdays, weekends, and night calls.
Familiarity with Cerner EMR system.
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience with vascular tissue retrieval.
Prior exposure to trauma or ICU environments.
Additional certifications in ACLS or BLS.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
At least 2 years of clinical experience in cardiothoracic or surgical specialties.
Active state licensure in New Jersey at the time of placement.
Other Requirements:
Must be licensed and credentialed, with an estimated timeframe of approximately 60 days.
Must be available for immediate needs, including 24-hour call coverage.
Must adhere to all applicable health and safety protocols.
