Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide outpatient services in Alpena, MI. This full-time, permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to deliver patient-centered care, support rehabilitation goals, and contribute to community health. The OT will evaluate, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans to enhance patients' functional independence, working primarily in outpatient settings with occasional coverage in acute care environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, developmental, social, and cognitive functions through formal and informal testing methods.
  • Develop personalized, goal-oriented treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient's tolerance, and physician directives.
  • Collaborate with physicians to create and update treatment regimes, ensuring plans reflect current patient status and needs.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and home exercise programs to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions using evidence-based approaches, modalities, and adaptive techniques aimed at restoring or improving function.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapist Assistants, home health aides, and students, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and clinical protocols.
  • Recommend and coordinate acquisition of adaptive equipment to support patient independence, facilitating timely procurement.
  • Document all patient interactions, treatment progress, and response to interventions in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a case manager for assigned patients, coordinating care across interdisciplinary teams and ensuring seamless service delivery.
  • Promote community awareness of occupational therapy services through participation in outreach and educational initiatives.
  • Engage in team meetings, interdisciplinary collaborations, and ongoing professional development to maintain high standards of care and support departmental initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, clinical excellence, and outstanding patient service aligned with our organization's core values.

Qualifications:
  • Current licensure and registration as an Occupational Therapist in Michigan.
  • Proven experience in outpatient therapy settings preferred; acute care experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of assessment tools, treatment techniques, and adaptive equipment recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently, manage caseloads efficiently, and demonstrate clinical competence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and electronic health records systems.
