Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our esteemed Cardiovascular Surgery team at Ochsner Health. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive perioperative and intraoperative care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and cardiothoracic procedures. Key Responsibilities:
Provide first assist support during cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeries, including complex procedures.
Perform endovascular vein harvesting and radial artery endo-harvesting with precision and adherence to surgical protocols.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Conduct preoperative assessments and develop individualized care plans.
Offer postoperative care, monitor patient recovery, and manage complications as needed.
Assist in maintaining surgical instruments and adhering to sterile techniques.
Educate patients and their families regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and postoperative care.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and healthcare regulations.
Qualifications:
Valid licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Louisiana.
Surgical experience with endovascular vein harvesting and radial artery endo-harvesting is essential.
Prior experience as a first assist in cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgery preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in perioperative patient management.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
