Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a passion for providing vital care to our nation's Veterans? VHS, a trusted government contractor and a Maximus company, is seeking skilled Locum Nurse Practitioners to deliver essential General Medicine services across Missouri. This role offers flexible scheduling, competitive compensation, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working independently within your own office space.
In this pivotal role, you will perform non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, primarily interview-based with some physical assessments, to support Veterans' benefits processes. Your expertise will help ensure our Veterans receive the care and recognition they deserve.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Missouri or eligible for license activation
Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
Experience with Compensation & Pension exams or similar assessments preferred
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and professionalism
Ability to work independently with reliable access to a personal office space within a 50-mile radius of assigned locations
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Nice to Have Skills:
Prior experience working with Veterans or in military medicine settings
Knowledge of the VA benefits process and familiarity with medical documentation
Proficiency with medical reporting software and documentation protocols
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s or Doctorate level degree in Nursing (NP credential)
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in general medicine or related fields
Prior experience conducting compensation and pension evaluations is highly advantageous
Other Requirements:
Own office setup within the designated area (50-mile radius) of each location listed
Willingness to perform exams at various scheduled sites across Missouri
Compliance with all licensing, certification, and continuing education standards
Ability to complete exams on a PRN basis with options for half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts; no travel reimbursement or overtime rates apply
Remuneration for this role includes a flat rate of $600 for half-day shifts and $1200 for full-day shifts. A one-time bonus of $650 will be awarded upon completion of training and initial exams. Local candidates only; travel costs are included within the rates. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package including weekly pay via direct deposit, medical coverage (W-2), paid sick time, licensure and certification reimbursements when applicable, and ongoing support from our dedicated team.
