As a Locum Nurse Practitioner specializing in General Medicine, you will play a vital role in conducting Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, ensuring veterans receive the care and evaluations they deserve. Required Skills:
Current Nurse Practitioner license in Texas
Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, or internal medicine
Ability to perform interview-based exams with some physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfort working independently
Attention to detail and strong report documentation skills
Nice to Have Skills:
Prior experience with VA or military-related assessments
Familiarity with Compensation & Pension exam procedures
Certifications in orthopedics or musculoskeletal assessments
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) from an accredited institution
At least 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in general or internal medicine
Previous experience in a military, veteran, or government healthcare setting is advantageous
Other Requirements:
Must have own office (for those opting for off-site coverage) within 50 miles of the listed city, or be available for per diem at a VES facility within 50 miles of your home address
Ability to work on a PRN, ongoing basis, including flexible hours (half-day or full-day shifts)
Clean background check and credentialing in a timely manner
No prescribing or treatment responsibilities involved; exams are primarily interview-based and minimal physical assessments
Travel costs included if working off-site; adherence to all state and federal laws governing telehealth and examinations
This is a rewarding opportunity to serve Veterans while enjoying competitive compensation. The pay rate is $402.00 per hour, with flat-rate options for half-day ($600) or full-day ($1200) shifts, including travel.
