Join Our Team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner in General Medicine – Houston, TX
Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a passion for providing exceptional care to Veterans? We are seeking committed, flexible, and experienced General Medicine NPs to fill important locum roles, helping serve our nation's Veterans through concise, impactful assessments. In this role, you will perform compensation and pension exams as well as separation health assessments, primarily through interview-based evaluations complemented by physical assessments. You will have the chance to work either onsite at a VES facility or in your own office, depending on your preference and location. Your expertise will directly support Veterans receiving essential evaluations, making a tangible difference in their lives.
Required Skills:
Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in Texas or the ability to obtain it promptly
Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields
Strong interview and physical assessment skills, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Exceptional communication and documentation skills
Comfort working with Veterans and familiarity with VA evaluation procedures
Nice to Have Skills:
Previous experience with compensation and pension exams or military-related assessments
Certification in specialized areas (e.g., orthopedic, pain management)
Experience working remotely or managing own practice solutions
Knowledge of telehealth platforms or electronic health records
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree or higher in Nursing (DNP, MSN)
Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner
Prior experience with Veterans Affairs or military-related healthcare settings
Other Requirements:
Must be within 50 miles of the designated service locations or able to see patients at your own office within this radius
Provide own office space if working offsite—no VES facility location in your area
Willingness to work ½ day or full-day shifts on an PRN, ongoing basis
Complete required training and perform initial exams to qualify for bonuses
Travel reimbursements and licensing support available when applicable
