Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular inmate rounds and safety checks, including 1-hour, 30-minute, and 15-minute intervals based on inmate risk levels.
Monitor inmates in various housing units, including high-risk and segregation areas, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Complete reports and documentation related to inmate observations and incidents.
Use electronic devices and radios to record checks and communicate with staff.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
Support the overall safety and security of the detention environment without participating in emergency or security roles.
Required Skills:
Correctional experience is mandatory.
Ability to work in loud, chaotic environments.
Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform physical activities such as lifting, squatting, and climbing stairs.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and drug screenings.
Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
No felony convictions.
Nice to Have Skills:
Prior experience in mental health or behavioral health settings.
Certification in crisis intervention or related fields.
Bilingual abilities.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Correctional or law enforcement experience preferred.
Experience working with diverse populations in correctional facilities.
Other Requirements:
Availability to work day shifts, including weekends, holidays, and special shifts.
Ability to work in a secure environment with strict confidentiality.
No use of medical marijuana, regardless of prescription.
Willingness to undergo ongoing background and drug screenings.
