Join Our Team as a Locum Hematology-Oncology Physician in Tacoma, WA
We are seeking dedicated and skilled Hematology-Oncology Physicians to provide exceptional care on a temporary basis at esteemed facilities in Tacoma and Gig Harbor. This vital role offers the opportunity to support inpatient and outpatient services, bridging to potential permanent employment while making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives. The position commences on December 8, 2025, and is designed for six months, with the possibility of extension.
This full-time locum tenens opportunity involves working four days each week—Monday, Wednesday, Thursday at St. Joseph in Tacoma, and Friday at St. Anthony in Gig Harbor. Enjoy a balanced schedule with Tuesdays off and rotating weekend call duties, limited to once every four weekends, from Friday evening to Monday morning. The outpatient clinic manages 16-20 patients daily, including new consultations and follow-ups, with strict adherence to EMR documentation via Epic.
Required Skills:
Medical degree (MD or DO) with valid Board Certification in Hematology and Oncology
Current and unrestricted medical license in Washington State
Demonstrated proficiency in outpatient and inpatient Hematology-Oncology care
Comfortable managing up to 20 patients daily with efficient time management
Ability to perform or oversee procedures such as bone marrow aspirations (optional)
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Familiarity with Epic EMR system
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience with hospital inpatient and outpatient care in a similar setting
Prior locum or temporary staffing experience
BMT/BMB experience (not required but advantageous)
Fluency in additional languages
Preferred Education and Experience:
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Completion of residency and fellowship in Hematology-Oncology
Minimum of 3 years post-training experience in a clinical setting
Prior experience in hospital and outpatient clinic environments is preferred
Other Requirements:
Ability to start as early as December 8, 2025
Willingness to work full-time schedule with rotating weekend call
Must adhere to all credentialing requirements, which are expected to complete within 60-90 days
No travel required at this time; local lodging arrangements preferred
