Locum - Physician - General Medicine WA

Join a dedicated team providing vital healthcare services to Veterans across Washington State. As a Locum Physician in General Medicine, you will perform important Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, contributing directly to our nation's Veteran care. This flexible, part-time opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact while maintaining your professional independence.

Overview:
We are seeking experienced General Medicine Physicians to support Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, in delivering high-quality assessments nationwide. This role offers the chance to work on a PRN basis, performing interview-based exams and physical assessments in a fast-paced, rewarding environment. Whether working from your own office or at VES locations, you'll help ensure our Veterans receive the care and evaluation they deserve. With flexible hours, competitive pay, and a supportive team, this position is ideal for physicians looking to contribute to meaningful healthcare initiatives on a part-time schedule.

Required Skills:
  • Medical license in Washington State
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or related general medicine field
  • Experience with or willingness to perform Compensation & Pension exams and health assessments
  • Strong interview skills and physical assessment abilities, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience in VA or military-related healthcare settings
  • Familiarity with military or veteran health assessments
  • Proficiency with medical documentation and electronic health records systems
  • Ability to perform assessments efficiently without compromising quality

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • At least 1-3 years of clinical practice in general medicine or related specialties
  • Prior experience performing compensation and pension examinations is advantageous but not required

Other Requirements:
  • Must have own qualifying office space if working independently; VES locations require candidates to be within 30 miles of specified areas
  • Willingness to travel locally as needed; travel costs included in pay rates for local candidates
  • Completion of required training and certifications (training bonus available upon completion)
  • Commitment to completing follow-up administrative work such as reports and addendums, aligned with daily or half-day shifts
  • No prescribing or treatment responsibilities; exams primarily interview-based with limited physical assessments

Hourly Pay Rate:
  • Half-day (4 hours or less): $800 flat rate
  • Full-day (5 hours or more): $1,600 flat rate
  • One-time training and first exam performance bonus: $650
