Join Our Team as a Locum Physician in General Medicine – CA Region
Are you a dedicated Physician with a passion for serving Veterans and rural communities? We are seeking skilled General Medicine Providers to perform evaluation and assessment services across California on a flexible, PRN basis. In this role, you'll conduct Compensation and Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, primarily interview-based with some physical assessment components. Our providers play a vital role in delivering timely, accurate evaluations without the need for prescribing or treatment responsibilities. With flexible scheduling options—half-day or full-day shifts—you can tailor your work to your availability and preferred locations.
Required Skills:
Medical Degree (MD or DO) with active California medical license
Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
Experience with compensation and pension examinations preferred
Ability to perform interview-based assessments and basic physical tests
Strong communication skills and ability to follow standardized procedures
Reliable transportation and access to your own office (for certain locations)
Nice to Have Skills:
Prior experience working with Veterans or in a federal assessment setting
Certification in DMA or relevant training (not mandatory)
Familiarity with medical documentation and report writing
Preferred Education and Experience:
MD or DO in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or similar specialties
Minimum of 2 years clinical practice or assessment experience
Prior experience with VA or government assessments is a plus
Other Requirements:
Willingness to travel within designated radius areas (30-50 miles)
Ability to work independently and adhere to strict evaluation protocols
Complete credentialing and onboarding efficiently
Available to start by March 6, 2026
Compensation includes competitive flat rates: $800 for half-day (up to 4 hours) and $1,600 for full-day (5 hours or more), with a $650 bonus upon completing initial training and first exams. Rates include travel expenses within local areas. No overtime or holiday rates apply, and follow-up administrative work compensation is embedded within the flat rates.
