Are you a dedicated healthcare professional seeking flexible, impactful work that supports our nation's Veterans? Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, is recruiting experienced General Medicine Providers to perform vital Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments nationwide. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working on a PRN basis with competitive compensation.
In this role, you will conduct interview-based assessments, including physical evaluations such as range of motion and muscle strength testing, without prescribing or providing treatment. The position offers flexible scheduling options—half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours)—allowing you to tailor your work hours to your availability. Exam locations vary from VES-owned sites to providers’ own offices, with current openings in Flagstaff, Sierra Vista, Tuba City/Chinle, Nogales, Safford, and Payson, Arizona. Candidates must reside within specified radii of each location.
Key Qualifications:
Medical license in Arizona (State Medical License)
Background in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or related general medicine fields
Experience with compensation and pension assessments is preferred
Excellent interview and physical assessment skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills for administrative follow-up work
Desired Skills:
Prior experience in veterans’ healthcare assessments
Certification relevant to general medicine
Ability to efficiently document findings and complete reports
Familiarity with VA or military healthcare procedures
Preferred Education & Experience:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Active Arizona medical license
At least 2 years of clinical experience, ideally with assessment or certification experience
Other Requirements:
Local candidates only; travel included in rates
Willingness to perform both initial exams and administrative documentation
Quick credentialing and onboarding process
Availability to start on or around March 6, 2026
Compensation & Benefits:
Hourly Rate: Flat rates vary by shift—$800 for half-day (4 hours or less) and $1,600 for full-day (5 hours or more); includes exam time, report submission, and addendums
One-time Bonus: $650 upon successful completion of training and initial exams
Weekly pay via direct deposit
