Join Our Team as a Locum – Physician – Cardiology in Petoskey, MI
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Board Certified General Cardiologist to provide exceptional cardiac care on a locum basis at McLaren Northern Michigan, a leading health system committed to excellence. This dynamic opportunity offers the flexibility of weekend long-term coverage with impactful responsibilities, playing a vital role in patient health and well-being in the Petoskey community.
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive inpatient cardiology services, supporting the hospital's mission to provide top-tier care. You will work alongside a team of inpatient Advanced Practice Providers, utilizing Cerner EHR, and performing essential procedures such as echocardiography, treadmill stress tests, and chemical stress tests with the ability to interpret these diagnostic studies. This position requires a commitment to providing quality care via hospital and call responsibilities, primarily from 6 am to 6 am, with coverage spanning multiple weekends and dates throughout the year.
Required Skills:
Board Certified in Cardiology
Proficiency in Echocardiography, Treadmill, and Chemical Stress Testing
Ability to interpret diagnostic studies accurately
Excellent clinical judgment and patient management skills
Strong communication and teamwork capabilities
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience working in a hospital setting
Familiarity with Cerner EHR system
Prior experience in a locum or temporary position
Preferred Education and Experience:
MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
Active medical license in Michigan or eligible for licensure
Minimum of 2 years’ clinical cardiology experience post-certification
Other Requirements:
Availability for scheduled coverage dates starting 01/01/2026
Willingness to work 24-hour shifts with on-call duties
Must clock in and out using DocTime as of 07/01/2024
Coverage of travel expenses within specified limits; no third-party lodging arrangements
Participation in orientation and training, compensated at half the hourly rate
Compliance with McLaren’s Travel & Expense policies and credentialing processes (estimated at 90 days)
Ability to handle emergent situations during long on-call hours
