Locum - Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - Cardiovascular Lansing, MI
Overview
Join our esteemed Cardiovascular Surgery team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner at UMH Sparrow Lansing Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center dedicated to providing top-tier cardiovascular care. This critical role offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting both cardiac and vascular surgeons through rounding, patient management, and discharges, without any OR responsibilities. Enjoy a flexible schedule with a 4-day, 10-hour workweek and participate in a rotating on-call system, all while working in a dynamic hospital environment committed to excellence in patient care.
Required Skills
Valid and active Nurse Practitioner license in Michigan
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
Proven experience in cardiovascular or surgical patient management preferred
Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, and communication skills
Ability to work independently on weekends and on call rotations
Proficiency with the Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
Nice to Have Skills
Prior experience in Level 1 Trauma or cardiac vascular units
Familiarity with hospital documentation standards and protocols
Additional certifications such as CCRN or CVRN
Preferred Education and Experience
Master's degree or higher in Nursing (MSN, DNP) or equivalent clinical training
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, ideally within cardiovascular or surgical teams
Other Requirements
Availability to start on February 1, 2026
Ability to work four days a week on a 10-hour shift schedule
Willingness to support rotating on-call and weekend shifts (1 in 4 weeks on call; 1 weekend/month)
Must possess or obtain MI state licensure and applicable certifications
Willingness to travel for credentialing or locum-specific needs as required
