Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a passion for serving those who have served our nation? Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company and trusted government contractor, is seeking skilled General Medicine Providers in New York to perform essential Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments. This opportunity allows flexible, part-time engagement while contributing to meaningful veteran support, making it an ideal role for experienced healthcare professionals seeking to make a difference.
In this role, you will conduct interview-based assessments and physical evaluations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing, with no prescribing or treatment responsibilities. You must own your own office space in Ithaca or Trumansburg, NY, and be available for one or more days per week on a PRN basis. The duties involve non-treatment exams, administrative follow-up work, and timely report submissions. Quick credentialing and onboarding processes ensure you can begin delivering vital services swiftly.
Essential Skills:
NY State Nurse Practitioner licensure
Experience in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedics, or general medicine
Strong interviewing and assessment skills
Ability to perform physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength)
Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Professionalism and reliability in independent settings
Nice to Have Skills:
Prior experience with Compensation & Pension exams
Background in military medicine or veteran healthcare
Familiarity with VA processes and documentation requirements
Certification in DMA or related credentials (not mandatory)
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
Valid NY State Nurse Practitioner certification
At least 2 years of clinical practice, ideally with experience in general or veteran medicine
Previous experience conducting non-treatment exams or assessments
Other Requirements:
Your own office setup in specific locations (Ithaca or Trumansburg, NY)
Availability for flexible hours, including half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts
Must adhere to all state and federal certifications, licensure, and training prerequisites
Willingness to complete administrative tasks outside scheduled exam times; additional reimbursements are not provided for certifications or training fees
Local candidate only; travel is included in the hourly rate
